About 100 km north of Phuket, the Similan Islands (Koh Bon, Koh Tachai) are reached on overnight voyages of two nights or more on Turquoise Lagoon 102 or Orchid Crown 139. The national park is closed from mid-May to mid-October.
When to go
November to April is the dry season with the calmest sea – the classic time for Phi Phi and the Racha islands. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings more swell and showers; Phang Nga Bay is sheltered and works all year, and sunset cruises run whenever the weather allows. The captain always has the final word on safety.
