A birthday on the water is one of the easiest ways to turn a date on the calendar into a day everyone remembers. This guide walks you through the main decisions: which boat suits your group, how long to stay out, where to go, which extras to add and how a request turns into a confirmed booking.

A quick note on who we are. Phuket Yacht Birthday is a broker service that plans private birthday cruises. The boats belong to their owners and operators, who run them with their own captain and crew.

Choosing a boat by group size

The number of people on board matters more than anything else, because each boat has a fixed day limit. Here are the six boats we work with, grouped by size.

Up to 12 guests

Ruby Sunset 55 is an Italian-built motor yacht, 55 ft (16.8 m), for up to 12 guests. It has a shaded flybridge lounge, an air-conditioned saloon, a swim platform and a tender on the stern, plus 3 cabins that sleep 9 for an overnight on request. Prices start from ฿79,000 for 5 hours (about US$2,190).

Orchid Crown 139 is a 139 ft (42.4 m) superyacht for up to 12 guests, with 6 en-suite cabins, a sun-deck jacuzzi, a formal dining room and a sound system throughout. From ฿1,235,000 for an 8-hour day (about US$34,310).

Up to 20–25 guests

Frangipani 65 is a 65 ft (19.8 m) motor yacht for up to 20 guests, with an inflatable water slide, a floating sea pool, a shaded flybridge, a low swim platform and an air-conditioned saloon. From ฿110,000 for 5 hours (about US$3,060).

Turquoise Lagoon 102 is a 102 ft (31.1 m) superyacht for up to 25 guests, with 4 en-suite cabins, a floating sea pool, jet skis (a fuel charge may apply), tenders for beach landings and a shaded sun deck with loungers. From ฿390,000 for an 8-hour day (about US$10,830).

30–40 guests

Palm Breeze 50 is a 50 ft (15.2 m) sailing catamaran for up to 30 guests. Its foredeck trampolines, shaded cockpit and flat, stable deck make it relaxed for mixed ages, and its shallow draft lets it anchor close to the shore. From ฿49,000 for 5 hours (about US$1,360).

Hibiscus 55 is a 55 ft (16.8 m) sailing catamaran for up to 40 guests, with a water slide off the stern, full-width foredeck trampolines and shaded cockpit seating. From ฿59,000 for 5 hours (about US$1,640).

How long should the cruise be?

• 3 hours – a short sunset cruise along the west coast on the catamarans (on Palm Breeze 50 the 3-hour option is on request).
• 5 hours – the standard from-price on most boats, and enough for Coral and Racha Islands with time to swim and snorkel.
• 8 hours – a full day for Phi Phi or Phang Nga Bay, and the standard day on the two superyachts.
• Overnight and longer – Ruby Sunset 55 on request, Frangipani 65 for 2–4 days, Turquoise Lagoon 102 for 2 days / 1 night or 3 days / 2 nights, and Orchid Crown 139 for 2 nights or 3–7 nights.

Routes overview

• Coral & Racha Islands – 5 hours, about 20 km each way. Banana Beach on Coral Island and Racha Yai; Racha Noi is possible on an 8-hour charter.
• Phi Phi Islands – 8 hours, about 45 km each way, with stops such as Pileh Lagoon, Maya Bay and Bamboo Island.
• Phang Nga Bay / James Bond Island – 8 hours, about 35 km each way, with sea caves by kayak and Koh Panak or Koh Hong. The bay is sheltered, so it works year round.
• West-coast sunset – about 3 hours, roughly 16:00–19:00, along Phuket’s west coast.
• Similan Islands – reserved for the two superyachts as an overnight trip of 2 nights or more, about 100 km north. The national park is closed from mid-May to mid-October.

National-park fees apply on some routes and are not part of the charter price. Park rules can also restrict access to certain bays, for example during seasonal closures for recovery. More detail on each route is on our routes page.

What is included and which extras you can add

Every charter includes the captain and crew, private use of the whole boat, fuel for the planned route, soft drinks and ice, fresh fruit, a kayak, a paddleboard, snorkelling equipment, life jackets, a sound system, accident insurance, the marina entry fee and towels.

Not included: island and national-park entry fees, the taxi transfer to the pier (which can be arranged on request), and lunch or catering, which is quoted separately. On overnight charters, food and a chef are also quoted separately.

Where you depart from

Cruises leave from Chalong Pier or Ao Po Grand Marina. The pier depends on the boat and the route, and it is confirmed with your booking.

When to go

The dry, high season runs from November to April, with a calmer Andaman Sea and clearer water for snorkelling. The rainy, green season from May to October brings the south-west monsoon, with more swell and showers. Whatever the season, the captain makes the final call on the day for safety.

Life jackets are on board every boat, and children should stay under their parents’ supervision throughout the cruise.

How the request works

1. Send your request. Tell us the date, the number of guests, the occasion, a route idea and any extras you would like.
2. Availability and final price are confirmed.
3. Booking. Once you agree, the charter is booked. Deposit and terms are confirmed in your booking. Nothing is booked or paid online.
